José Luis Rivera Giles is a young artist, born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1976. He currently lives in Spain, where since 2003. His work explores both the language of abstraction, figuration, as well as symbolism. In addition to his artistic development, has dedicated many years of theoretical research on topics related to art, in particular the need to search for spiritual transcendence in art. After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico in 1999 with a concentration in fine arts, he moved to Mexico City in 2002 where he earned a master's degree in Visual Arts-Painting of the Academy of San Carlos, with a mention honor. In 2008, Giles completed his academic training Rivera received a Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University of Valencia in Spain, specializing in the rescue of the model proposed by Wassily Kandinsky art for the office. Giles Rivera has served as professor of art at the University of Puerto Rico School of Plastic Arts of Puerto Rican Culture Institute and the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. His work has been exhibited in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and Spain.
